This depends on where you live. Many
housing authorities are moving to a
choice-based scheme where available
property is displayed on a website similar
to those used by estate agents.
Once you have filled
in the right forms and received your
points allocation you will receive an
identity number and PIN (Personal Identification
Number). You are then able to bid for
the home that you like best. Bids can
be accepted over the phone or via text
message and the successful candidate
will be the person with the most points
who has been on the housing list for
the longest.
Before you can
move into your property, your case will
be assessed again to make sure that
your circumstances have not changed.
